Greenville Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pelvic Surgery, a division of
Physicians East, will host a Sun Safety Awareness Day on Aug. 7 and Aug. 8
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 101 Bethesda Drive.
The medical office will be promoting sun safety by providing information
about protecting the skin. People interested in learning proper ways to
protect their skin can receive information and samples and can teach their
families the benefits of staying protected in the sun.
Free SPF 15 sunscreen samples, donated by Hawaiian Tropic, will be
available.
Skin cancer is ranked as the most common form of cancer in America.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, one million new diagnoses
are expected in 2006.
This awareness day is a great way of informing women and their families how
to protect their skin against the sun during these hot summer months,
Heather Roebuck, operations manager at Greenville OB/GYN, said. ³People need
to take the necessary precautions in preventing skin damage and we will
provide them the tools they need to do so.
